Did you know the world's leading manufacturer and developer of drumheads and shells is headquartered right here in the SCV? Also one of the valley's largest employers, Remo moved here from North Hollywood in 1997 and has grown to over 200 employees. Last week the SCVEDC Board of Directors was given a guided tour of their 220,000 SF headquarters, where at full capacity they can make over 10,000 drums a day.
Remo, Inc. has continued to innovate and expand its product line ever since founder Remo Belli created the first commercially synthetic drumhead in 1957. The company introduced various drumhead types, including the Diplomat, Ambassador, Emperor, Controlled Sound, and Pinstripe drumheads, each offering a distinct sound to meet the specific needs of different musicians. Their graphics department also makes customized drums and drumheads for some of the biggest names out there, including bands, sports teams, businesses, and even The Rose Parade.
Remo Inc. also expanded into the manufacture of drums with various world percussion instruments for the Professional, Educational, Recreational, and Music Therapy markets. They even have a drum specifically designed for helping premature babies regulate breathing and heart rate (research demonstrating its benefits published by the NY Times and the American Academy of Pediatrics).
On site is also the gorgeous Remo Music Center (RMC) where people of all ages can experience the benefit and joy of making music with others in a welcoming and non-challenging environment. The 1st and 3rd Tuesdays at 7pm are open to all, and Saturday mornings are for kids and their families. Drums and percussion are provided! The SCVEDC wants to thank Remo for being such a valued and innovative member of our local business community.
