CALED Recognizes Santa Clarita Valley Economic Development Corporation’s Job Board during Economic Development Week

The California Association for Local Economic Development (CALED) announced today to their members that SCVEDC was awarded their prestigious 2019 Award of Excellence in the Programs category for their LiveWorkSCV.com job board. CALED’s annual competition invites economic development members to submit application in four categories, with one Award of Excellence selected for each. The timing coincides with the International Economic Development Council’s Economic Development Week, designed to increase awareness for local programs that create jobs, advance career development opportunities and increase the quality of life in communities everywhere.

LiveWorkSCV.com is a free resource that matches SCV job opportunities with local talent. After hearing feedback from Santa Clarita Valley employers that it was difficult to find qualified, local candidates, and hearing from residents that they were tired of their long commute times, SCVEDC launched this comprehensive job board in July 2019 to address this issue. Job postings are free to SCV employers and all jobs are reviewed before publishing to assure they meet the SCV locale criteria.

“Now more than ever, this job board plays an important role as SCV businesses plan their strategies for post-COVID rescaling of their workforce. This resource provides a valuable service to both local companies and residents, especially for those whose jobs have been lost due to the coronavirus pandemic,” said SCVEDC President and CEO Holly Schroeder. “We encourage SCV employers to start posting their positions now as plans progress for reopening of our local economy,” she added.

LiveWorkSCV.com has been lauded by numerous employers, and unanimously supported by SCVEDC’s 50-seat board of directors as a program congruous to our mission of growing a diverse and quality jobs base in the Santa Clarita Valley. In 2019 alone, 127 unique Santa Clarita Valley companies posted career opportunities on this site.
