BUSINESS ATTRACTION, RETENTION & EXPANSION
Business Attraction, Retention, and Expansion last year was busier than ever! Here are a few highlights of completed projects (minus ongoing activities and efforts).
ECONOMIC INFORMATION AND RESEARCH
Business Survey
Given the backdrop of the past few years in grappling with the effects and aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, the SCVEDC conducted a comprehensive Business Survey outreach to local businesses in March 2022 as a post-pandemic extension of SCVEDC’s ongoing business retention program. Business input through the survey process is utilized to assess the current and forecasted business climate, as well as identify actionable needs and priorities of existing industry in the Santa Clarita Valley.
Talent Report
Curious about the Who, What, Where, When, and Why of Santa Clarita Valley? The SCVEDC worked with it's various partners across the valley to build a comprehensive Talent Report to tell the story of the SCV, its demographics, workforce, and more. Download the full report to learn more about why the Santa Clarita Valley is the place to be for top talent and premier employers!
Economic Outlook and Economic Snapshots
Every year the SCVEDC, in partnership with College of the Canyons, our board members, and numerous sponsors, hosts an Economic Outlook Forecast event. Last year's was one of our best yet, with a dynamic panel of business leaders that included: Ana Fonseca (President & CEO, Logix), John Prabhu (Partner, LA North Studios), and Nate Patena (CEO, DrinkPAK LLC). SCVEDC economist Dr. Mark Schniepp returned to provide the full economic forecast, providing vital information and updates on national, state, and local economies.
Dr. Schniepp also works with the EDC to put out quarterly snapshots of our local economy that include data on employment, household income, residential real estate, commercial real estate, retail vacancy, and more. Alongside each quarterly snapshot will be an exclusive podcast with Dr. Schniepp and Holly Schroeder, as they delve deeper into current events and trends in our economy. COMMUNITY MARKETING
The Santa Clarita Valley continues to be one of the most productive and business–friendly locations in
Southern California. Unfortunately, all too often we come across companies and individuals that simply do
not have an accurate perception of our Valley. At the SCVEDC, we work to shift those perceptions by promoting the Santa Clarita Valley as the premier destination to live, work, and play.
The focus of economic development has expanded over the past year to include talent attraction and workforce development. In todays labor market, companies are doing everything they can to maintain their current staff, while simultaneously competing with other businesses for top talent.
As part of the SCVEDC's continued efforts to grow our valley's economy and create high-quality jobs, we launched a new webpage, "Room to Grow". This page will be a hub, with each section linking to various resources and information that highlight the many stellar attributes that make SCV the ideal place to grow your lifestyle, grow your family, and grow your career. This page runs in conjunction with our very successful digital advertising on Google and LinkedIn, whose traffic are directed there.
The Santa Clarita Valley Economic Development Corporation (SCVEDC) is a unique private / public partnership representing the united effort of regional industry and government leaders. The SCVEDC utilizes an integrated approach to attracting, retaining and expanding a diversity of businesses in the Santa Clarita Valley, especially those in key industry clusters, by offering competitive business services and other resources.
